About us
Redefining what homelessness response looks like
Clean Human Initiative is a Houston-based nonprofit that believes dignity isn't optional, it's the foundation everything else is built on.
Our mission
Why we exist
To mobilize resources that remove the barriers of poverty, bringing renewed dignity and transformation through hygiene care and holistic wellness.
The problem
Houston's hidden hygiene gap
Houston is home to approximately 3,200 to 3,300 people experiencing homelessness, with an estimated 1,200 to 1,500 living unsheltered. For unsheltered individuals, the inability to maintain basic hygiene directly impacts physical health, mental well-being, and the ability to secure employment or housing.
Our vision
From dependency to empowerment
CHI is redefining homelessness response by shifting from dependency-based services to empowerment-driven solutions, providing individuals not just aid, but the tools to reclaim dignity and independence.
From our founder
Placeholder, Terri's own words go here. A short personal note on why this cause, why Houston, why now.
Our model
A phased, scalable approach
We're building this in three deliberate phases: piloting with 500 Care Kits distributed directly in Houston, building a story platform so donors can see real impact, and scaling through partnerships with churches, nonprofits, and corporate sponsors.
Where we're headed
In our first year, we aim to
500
Care Kits distributed
40%
of Houston's unsheltered population served
1
scalable model built for expansion
Clean Human Initiative meets a critical gap in the current system by delivering a practical, scalable solution that restores dignity at the most fundamental level.
